For You:

  • Give yourself a break

  • Take care of yourself emotionally and physically

  • Recognize that it’s OK to have different feelings over time

  • Avoid power struggles and arguments with your spouse or former spouse

  • Take time to explore your interests

  • Think positively

For Your Children:

  • Reassure and listen

  • Maintain stability and routines

  • Offer consistent discipline

  • Let your children know they can rely on you

  • Don’t involve your children in the conflict
